Why Use Geogrid For Road Construction

Most of the original urban roads are cement concrete pavements. With the service life, road traffic and vehicle load increase, the damage to the old cement pavement structure becomes more and more serious. How to repair the old cement concrete pavement has become an urgent problem to be solved. Renovating the traditional flat pavement not only takes time and effort, but also has many insights. Asphalt pavement equipment has the advantages of good flatness, low noise and less dust. Laying an asphalt overlay on the old concrete pavement is an effective measure to improve the performance of the old concrete pavement, but the reflective cracking of the asphalt overlay is the main problem that needs to be solved.

The reflective crack itself has little effect on the performance of the cover, but the negative impact of environmental factors (rain, snow, oxidation, dust) usually causes the crack to expand rapidly and shorten the service life of the cover. In order to effectively reduce the reflection speed of cracks in the old cement concrete pavement or reduce the thickness of the asphalt overlay, researchers at home and abroad have conducted a large number of experiments, accumulated successful experience, and learned many failed lessons. In order to prevent reflection cracks, methods of thickening the asphalt overlay have been adopted abroad. However, only relying on increasing the thickness of the pavement has its disadvantages: on the one hand, the increase in the thickness of the covering layer is limited by the street elevation; in addition, a significant increase in the thickness of the covering will increase the cost of the pavement. In addition, the creep of summer asphalt mixture at high temperature can easily lead to rutting, thus losing the advantages of solid foundation and thin surface produced by using old cement concrete slab as the base layer. Therefore, it is not recommended to thicken the asphalt overlay. In view of this situation, on the basis of referring to a large amount of data, theoretical analysis and demonstration, it was decided to lay a glass fiber grille reinforcement layer on the old cement concrete pavement, and then pave the asphalt concrete surface layer on it. . The sidewalk paved in this way can prevent cracks from reflecting in the base layer, reduce sidewalk rutting, and extend the service life of the sidewalk. The use of glass fiber grids can increase the overall tensile strength of the asphalt mixture, effectively improve the stress distribution of the pavement structure, and resist and delay the generation of reflective cracks in the asphalt concrete pavement caused by the pavement foundation cracks. Thereby improving the service life of the road surface.
